The Second Storey Man

$59.95

A Time in the Australian People’s Game – Aussie Rules with Alan Wickes OAM.

The second edition of “The Second Storey Man” was sensationally released at the announcement of the Langwarrin Football and Netball Club’s 1920-2020 “Team of the Century. “The Wickes family are delighted that their dad and champion winger Jimmy (1920's-1930's) is a member of the prestigious “Langwarrin Football Club Team of the Century."

The Second Storey Man is a 70-year collection of authentic Victorian footy history. From humble beginnings as a 1954 junior at the Frankston FC to a brief and exciting time at Victoria Park with the Collingwood FC. A seven-year coaching career ensued whilst founding the Frankston & District Junior Football League in 1965. Ten years from 1971 as President of the Frankston FC steering the club through turbulent and near bankrupt times to the 1978 VFA Second División premiership. After succeeding 27-year unopposed Alex Gillon into the Chair of the Victorin Football Association, Alan experienced deep conflict with the Victorian Football League hierarchy led by Dr Allen Aylett and Jack Hamilton. The demise of the VFA continued with the VFL gaining access to previously protected assets of exclusive Sunday Football and Direct TV rights. The disappointing and detailed process is documented and Alan’s Time in the Australian People’s Game is a must read for footy enthusiasts.

Great value at $59.95 and with only an extra $10 for postage and handling outside a 20km radius of Frankston.
